At the Age of 36, Andy Holder (aka Iron Andy) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This came with no family history and no warning. Being a husband and a father of two young boys he was determined to overcome this disease and he was NOT going to let it limit his life in anyway. He decided to do something extraordinary in an effort to motivate and inspire other people struggling with diabetes. Despite never having done a triathlon before and not knowing how to swim, Andy decided to accomplish what most consider to be the ultimate test of mental and physical endurance; the Ironman triathlon!
With a positive attitude, hard work and a “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop mentality,” Iron Andy has completed numerous full and half Ironman triathlon’s and a number of marathon’s. He is the national spokesperson for a major pharmaceutical company and has recently created the Iron Andy Foundation, who’s mission is to send children to diabetes camps and empower them to live an extraordinary life in the face of this disease. He is often the keynote speaker at health and fitness expo’s, universities, medical center’s and corporate sales meetings.
Sure, Superman could jump over tall buildings and out run speeding trains, but could he finish a 140.6 mile Ironman triathlon with type 1 diabetes? Contact Iron Andy, and meet the man who can and hear his inspirational story on how he continues to motivate and inspire people all across the country.
